Description
3/8 in. x 60 ft Stainless Steel Cable makes the lifting and rigging operations in mid-sea easy for you. It has a very flexible structure made in a 7×19 formation and, in parallel, provides trust and reliability while lifting heavy loads. The stainless steel strands are corrosion-resistant and built for long-term reliability, and give you minimal maintenance efforts.
Key Features & Benefits
- Strong and Durable: Stainless Steel of 316 Type enables you to use the cable in harsh saltwater and other marine conditions. It is resistant to corrosion due to salt and weather.
- Sturdy but Flexible: To provide an excellent load-bearing capacity and flexibility, it has a diameter of 3/8-inch that is made from a 7×19 strand configuration, meaning 133 individual SS wires are interwoven together.
- Versatile Utility: A 60-foot length with a sleek, polished finish enables you to use the cable for a wide range of applications, specifically for sailboat rigging in mid-sea.
- Easy Installation: The cable can be easily installed using the rope thimbles and clamps.
Installation and Usage
Use a wire cutter of appropriate gauge and grind the ends after cutting the cable to avoid fraying. Wear hand gloves while uncoiling or handling steel cable to protect your hands from friction burns. Use appropriate hardware to clamp or tuck the cable. Maintain a minimum bend radius to avoid internal wire breakage and fatigue of the cable.
Maintenance
Regularly check the cable for kinks, frays, or corrosion. Rinse with fresh water and mild soap, and then wipe dry with a soft cloth. If you are using it for frequent movement or friction, ensure to apply a light coat of marine-grade lubricant to reduce wear and tear. When not in use, store the cable in a dry and enclosed space.
