Description
The Cable, 1/4 Gal by the Foot is a flexible, high-strength galvanized steel wire rope with a high degree of corrosion resistance and custom-length flexibility. It’s great to use in boat lifts, docks, hoists, and numerous rigging applications. This versatile cable is sold by the foot to accommodate your exact needs! The cables’ 7×19 construction provides an optimal combination of strength and flexibility, ensuring you can trust that they won’t fail when placed under tension, load, or movement.
Key Features
1/4-inch galvanized steel wire rope: This medium-duty synthetic cable features a sturdy yet reasonable diameter, making it suitable for various marine and mechanical applications. Ideal for small to medium boat lifts, winches, and guidance systems.
Sold by the foot for customized applications: Order what you need, whether you’re replacing old rigging or building a new system from scratch. We can supply any length of cable to help. Allowing you to buy by the foot limits waste and maximizes precision during the installation process.
7×19 flexible strand construction: This strand structure consists of 7 strands, each containing 19 wires. This type of construction has excellent bending capabilities and resistance to fatigue. It easily wraps around sheaves and pulleys without kinking or fraying.
Hot-dip galvanized coating: The zinc coating provides protection against corrosion while the cable is in use. With its hot-dip galvanized coating, it is suitable for both freshwater and outdoor marine use (excluding saltwater). Hot-dip galvanized is not as corrosion-resistant as stainless steel, but it will hold up with proper care.
Trustworthy performance in various marine environments: Designed for rugged outdoor use, this cable can withstand UV exposure, rain, and contact with water. Great for docks, lifts, and gear left outdoors.
Additional Information
Use and setup: This is a cut-to-length cable, which can be attached using cable clamps, eyelets, or crimp sleeves. By design, this will function well with the vast majority of standard winch/lift systems, and can be easily handled with hand tools during the setup.
Care and Maintenance: After use in muddy or brackish conditions, rinse with fresh water to maintain maximum life. Store coiled and dry when not in use. Check regularly for wear or corrosion, and avoid too-tight bends to maintain flexibility and integrity.
